Near My Home

March 20, 2009 at 9:02 pm (Uncategorized)

Growing up in Virginia, we didn’t have oil rigs around…well, none that I ever saw at least.  It wasn’t until my husband I were moving out to Colorado that I saw my first oil rigs by the side of the highway.   I was in awe.  I thought all oil rigs were in Texas and Oklahoma.  The first ones I saw were in Indiana I believe.   Here, in Colorado, we have plenty of oil rigs.  There are several of these old oil rigs by my neighborhood.

I went out yesterday and got a shot of the one closest to my neighborhood.  Its also in this huge wheat field.  The wheat field is so beautiful in the spring and summer.   Then, in the fall, it is harvested and rolled into these huge hay bales.  I, of course, had to take pictures of those too!

Nothing like getting fun and creative pictures from right by my home.

Barns and Windmills

March 17, 2009 at 10:11 pm (Uncategorized)

For living in the Denver area, I am sort of in the country.  I love North of the city, but is much more open in this part of town.  We have some beautiful farmland out here with wonderful old barns and windmills.   There are so many old barns I want to capture.  So far, I have only had the chance to go out and photograph one of those old barns and a near by windmill.

I just love the old rustic feel of the pictures.  In a way, I feel like I am taken back to an older time – back to the 1800’s.  As a child, I used to always wonder what it would have been like to live in the 1800’s.  LOL  🙂

The barn picture was taken in a winter day here in Colorado.  You can still see the snow on the roof of the barn, but its melted on the ground.

White Little Flowers

In the coming weeks, I plan to add 2 more sets of cards.  One will feature Black and White flowers and the other will have bright colored flowers.  I’m excited to be adding these folded greeting cards to my shop!

This week, I was notified by that my ladybug print was featured on their site.  Luv Handmade is a great site for selling and promoting handmade goods.  Thank You to for featuring my photograph!

A Hidden Treasure

March 5, 2009 at 2:13 am (Uncategorized)

I was looking through some old flower photographs I have and I came upon the one posted below.  I don’t know how I ever missed this picture before. Its such a vibrant shot of a red/orange Gerbera Daisy.  I love Gerbera Daisies.  I think I have several different prints of them on my Etsy site.  I just listed this one today.

I’m still digging through all of my old photographs, maybe I will come across some more hidden treasures
